Thanks to many of our volunteers! Lexington Lions Club is assisting the Food Pantry and USPS with their upcoming “Stamp Out Hunger” project to support the food pantry and have a positive impact. Multiple community groups gathered to assemble the 10,000 packets to be dropped in each mailbox in Lexington.
In honor of AAPI Heritage Month (May), Lexington will display banners uplifting Asian American and Pacific Islanders’ contributions, sacrifices and accomplishments that are woven into the tapestry of our great nation. Look for the banners in Lexington Center along Mass. Avenue and at Cary Library through the month of May.
Each banner celebrates a significant historical event or person that has enriched our society. This year, a set of banners will be introduced with a plan to add more banners and increase representation in future years.
This is a collaborative project by Lexington AAPI groups: BALex, CAAL, CALex, IAL, JPLex, KOLex. Sponsored by Community Endowment of Lexington. Please consider donating to this project at www.LexAAPI.org to help honor our AAPI heritage.

A great turnout with about 50 people attending the reception to kick off the APPI heritage month celebrations and watch the award-winning documentary at Cary Library on Thursday night and learning about an important chapter of Asian American history, indeed American history. The audience were very engaged and all thought the movie was touching! There was big applause at the end of the showing.
The online movie screening ends today. There are about 400 online registrations between Lexington and Belmont. Kudos to the two young moderators of the Q&A session! What an engaging conversion with the movie producers that leads to new discoveries and inspiration! Here is the video of the Q&A session.
Many people try running but don’t stick with it. In this discussion you will hear from three Lexington residents who started running later in life and now have run over 100 marathons combined. These runners will share their secrets of how to find joy and community in running and how to make running a part of overall health and happiness.
As part of the event, we will share a zero to 5K training plan and give you an opportunity to sign up for a local 5K and training sessions.
The AAPI Heritage Month Celebration is a month-long series of events spotlighting AAPI culture through history, art, and food during the month of May. Art week narrates the Asian American experience through meaningful artwork including photography, drawing, painting, and any illustrations created by fellow Lexingtonians.
Please submit your artwork by April 27! The art pieces will be deliberately chosen to highlight the culture of AAPI. The art pieces illuminate daily life as an Asian American. Selected art pieces will be exhibited in the Cary Memorial Library throughout the months of May and June.
This event is organized by Lexington Youth AAPI Celebration Volunteers and Chinese American Association of Lexington (CAAL); Funded by Community Endowment of Lexington, Civic Leadership Academy; Co-sponsored by Cary Library, Indian Americans of Lexington (IAL), Korean Organization of Lexington (KoLex) and Japanese Support Group of Lexington (JPLex).
