While the group has accomplished a lot, the work is still ongoing. Now, they have partnered with the Chinese American Association of Lexington (CAAL) for a new campaign. After completing their first round of fundraising in Lexington, a CAAL member found the group’s information online and suggested a partnership, Shingavi said.
Now, CAAL has pledged to match all donations, up to $500, for a second round of baskets to the Lexington Food Pantry. There is no hard deadline for this, but the students are trying to raise money as quickly as possible, as hundreds of people are still unemployed and struggling with food insecurity, Shirude said.
