About
Immigrants have played a vital role in shaping the vibrant communities and rich cultural tapestry of the United States. Lexington is celebrating its diverse immigrant population through an art and storytelling exhibition this May during the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month and Jewish American Heritage Month.
Chinese American Association Lexington (CAAL) and Lexington Council for the Arts (LCA) invite all Lexington residents to submit writings and paintings that capture the experiences, emotions, successes, and challenges of immigration. This event highlights the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion by providing a platform to share powerful narratives of courage, resilience, and the pursuit of the American dream.
Submission categories include youth and adult categories for writing and painting.
All work is due by May 10.
Top entries will receive Golden, Silver, and Bronze awards in each category. A panel of professional volunteers will review all entries. We will feature winning writings and paintings in a public exhibition and storytelling event in late May.
Let’s celebrate Lexington’s rich cultural diversity and the invaluable contributions of immigrants together!
