Duckweed
Yahong Shen
Do you remember the summer nights in my hometown?
The twinkling starry sky,
The glowing fireflies dancing among the grasslands,
The ebbing and flowing chorus of frogs,
The gentle breeze blowing softly.
Unforgettable are the duckweeds on the pond,
Carrying a tinge of pale green,
Drifting aimlessly with the wind, not asking east or west.
Until today, I suddenly understand
That rootless freedom, joy and sorrow.
