Icon Our Mission

The Youth Instrumental Ensemble is a group of talented musicians from local high schools and middle schools who come together to perform. Our goal is to use our musical abilities to enhance the lives of individuals in our community. We are passionate about spreading joy and inspiration through our music, and we also strive to promote cultural diversity and appreciation. As an instrumental ensemble, our group has a variety of activities we can engage in to develop our musical skills and grow as a team as well as contribute to the community. Established in 2016.

9/17/2023, Herb Festival: Showcasing Chinese-Style Music

At the Herb Festival, 3 members from our Youth Instrument Ensemble participated in the event, showcasing performances on the guzheng, singing Chinese songs, and playing Chinese tunes on the violin.

1/21/2024, Lunar New Year Celebrations: Symphony performance – Spring Festival Overture

For the Lunar New Year Celebrations event, 26 members participated in the performance (with one member falling ill and unable to attend at the last minute). Before the performance, we held 5 rehearsals and 1 stage dress-up rehearsal. Videos were recorded during the first two rehearsals and submitted to the performance preparation committee for review. Fortunately, our program passed the evaluation and qualified for the performance. During rehearsals, we received guidance from conductor Mr. Yang Jie and LHS music teacher Ms. Jason, which greatly improved our performance. In addition to rehearsals and performances, members of our small band also adapted the Spring Festival Overture to meet the duration requirements for the performance.

2/10/2024, Mini Concert for Seniors in Lexington Community Center

The Mini Concert for Seniors was organized by the Lexington Human Service Department, inviting the Youth Instrument Ensemble to perform. During this event, we presented a one-hour concert with 22 members participating, offering 11 pieces for the elderly residents of the town. The youngest performer in this concert was a fourth-grade elementary school student. Our performance was highly successful, receiving much praise from the seniors.

2/24/2024, Joyful Healthcare Center Lantern Festival Concert


The Joyful Healthcare Center Lantern Festival Concert was hosted by the SC Minuteman Chapter. They invited our members to perform. We prepared one program to participate in the event.

5/25/2024, Discovery Day improvised roadshow activities


At the Discovery Day improvised roadshow activities, we performed four pieces in total, lasting about 15 minutes. Our performance took place at the end of the main street in the town center, where many locals and tourists gathered to watch. Our performance received a lot of applause.
