How does this person inspire you? She broke barriers as a woman in a male dominated field with her intelligence, talent and perseverance.
Why did you choose this person? What about their story speaks to you? I am a female scientist and love reading about other female scientists and their contributions to the field.
What surprised you as you were learning about this person? She was the first at a lot of things: Dr. Wu was the first woman to be hired as faculty in Physics at Princeton , the first woman to be president of the American Physical Society (1975), the recipient of the inaugural Wolf Prize in Physics (1978) and was the first woman to serve as president of the American Physical Society. She is dubbed ‘The First Lady of Physics’.
